University of Science and Technology Chittagong (USTC)
Giving importance in Pharmacy professions, USTC introduced the Bachelor of Pharmacy department under Faculty of basic medicine and pharmaceutical science in 1992. . It is the first private university in Bangladesh give a new look, a new way of this profession. The studies of this department is approved by the UGC and Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh .This faculty has been doing more than expectation and it is a matter of pride of USTC.
The pharmacy department actively, maintains a proper quality of education. Pharmacy graduates may enter a number of different areas of professional activities. They are also doing their best in different countries for the higher studies and also doing some research works.
Bachelor of Pharmacy course in USTC has a four years program. The department has sufficient lecturers, professors and a chairman. The whole curriculum, classes and examinations are performed by the Chairman of Pharmacy department Prof. DR. Showkat Ali (Former Professor, University of Dhaka), with the help of all teachers.
The pharmacy department has a separate floor with sufficient class rooms, laboratories, teacher’s room and a big common room. Laboratory facilities for different courses exist as per requirement of Bangladesh Pharmacy Council, which include different individual laboratories for individual courses with modern equipments and also available an aseptic room.
The performance of a student is evaluated by continuous evaluation that comprises class test, class attendance, tutorial, homework/assignment, mid-term, year (part) final and viva voce examinations. All the answer papers of part exam are rechecked by the external of University of Dhaka to make a perfect judgment of the quality of the students.
The student of pharmacy department perform different competition with other universities like science fair, project declaration, seminar, report presentation and so on. They also perform blood donation campaign, making the relief fund for poor people by the inspirations of the pharmacy teachers.
Courses of study for the degree of Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) have also been held in this faculty for long years. The curriculum is proposed by Bangladesh University Grants Commission.
The students have an aim to do the best for the country and spread the glory of this private university. An honorable person stands just behind of all success in this institute, Vice chancellor of USTC, National Professor Dr. Nurul Islam. Once he said, "USTC, the hill-top University shall reach sky high in its achievement with the ultimate goal of serving humanity and the nation.” Still he is determined to keep his words. University of Science and Technology Chittagong (USTC) was established as a Private University in 1992. USTC is sponsored by Janasheba Foundation National Professor Dr Nurul Islam was appointed President of USTC by President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. This institute is located on the hill side of the road which is covered with a green view. 
In 1992, USTC started with two faculties. Day to day it is changed with a new look. Within a very short period it has launched three more new faculties. Now the USTC have five faculties with thirty departments and shinning its glory through out the world. This institute is a premier institute among all universities in Bangladesh because among all students in USTC, about 85% of foreign students from different countries come every year for studies.
The accommodation for the foreign and nonlocal female and male students Dr Nurul Islam established the Gulmeher Hall and Syedur Rahman International Hall respectively. USTC has an accommodating of 1000 audiences air conditioned auditorium. There is also a gallery available for 100 audiences. The auditorium is ideally suited for conference; seminar, cultural programs, and some competitions are also held in this auditorium.
